Scratcher is a reindeer who is the secondary antagonist in the 1979 Rankin/Bass film Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July.
He was going to be one of Santa's reindeer, but he was fired due to constantly stealing presents and candy canes, and after Rudolph became a member of Santa's team, Scratcher was sent to live in the Cave of Lost Rejections.
During the events of the film, the wicked wizard Winterbolt recruits Scratcher to assist him in his plans and sends him to the Circus by the Sea, where he had tricked Rudolph and Frosty into going to. Once at the Seashore, Scratcher tricks Rudolph into helping him steal the money the circus has been making and giving it to the evil carney Sam Spangles. After Rudolph's nose goes out as a result of this, Scratcher returns with Winterbolt to the North Pole. However, while both Winterbolt and Spangles are defeated onscreen, it is never shown nor mentioned what happens to Scratcher. He should reform sometime soon.
Description[]
Scratcher has beige fur (white fur on his muzzle, chest and underbelly) and black eyes. He has short antlers and has two bucked teeth.
